The Benefits of Raised Bed Gardening:
Raised garden beds, also called garden boxes, are great for growing small plots of veggies and flowers.
They keep pathway weeds from your garden soil, prevent soil compaction, provide good drainage and serve as
a barrier to pests such as slugs and snails. The sides of the beds keep your valuable garden soil from being
eroded or washed away during heavy rains. In many regions, gardeners are able to plant earlier in the season
because the soil is warmer and better drained when it is above ground level.
Easy To Build
Step 1: Select a place that is flat and receives at least four to six hours of sun. Rake the area clear of debris.
Step 2: Measure out the dimensions of the bed, and mark the four corners with stakes. From the corners, measure both diagonal distances across the bed. If these distances are equal, the bed will be a true rectangle.
Step 3: Tie some string between the stakes to ensure that the posts are aligned and to see how large the bed will be.
When using a raised bed on a patio or driveway, add your growing mix, add seeds or plants, and you're on your way!!
